I posted this to the Quicken user forum over the weekend but without any replies so far, so I am now broadening my request to here. Unlike others that have posted PDF printing problems, as the subject states no file is being created and/or saved to the HD. All of the expected dialog boxes appear, which in the first one I select the Quicken PDF printer. Then when I press print the next dialog prompts me for a file name and the ability to select a different folder to save in. It also has Save to PDF file as the Save as Type, which is the only choice available. When I click Save I am returned to Quicken and in a few seconds the Quicken Print dialog appears and gives the impression that the file is being created and saved to the HD. In reality however nothing is happening, as witnessed by the fact that the previously named file is not created/saved in the target folder.
To date I have tried all suggestions in the other treads about PDF printing problems even though they were not appropriate for my situation. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled Quicken without any solution to the problem. So here I am seeking further advise/help with this problem. I started Quicken this month, and find that Schwab does not make information available far enough back to cover the initial purchases of most of my mutual funds, never mind all of the dividend re-investment transactions.
What have other folks done in similar situations? Is entering all of the dividend-reinvestments over years the only way (haven't got all that info anyway, for some of them). Quicken creates a placeholder with the initial count of transactions and asks for a cost. How can I determine a cost for that one point in time? This may be more of an accounting question than Quicken, but many people must have faced a similar problem.
